The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to airlift electoral materials across the country to ensure a successful presidential and parliamentary primary election on Saturday, May 13. Godwin Edidzi Tameklo, a member of the legal team of the NDC, made the announcement following the withdrawal of the injunction application filed by flagbearer aspirant Dr. Kwabena Duffuor in court on Friday. The decision to transport the materials by air was made to address concerns about the electoral album and ensure a smooth electoral process.

Dr. Duffuor had filed an injunction application at the High Court on May 9, calling for the postponement of the primaries over concerns about the electoral album. His campaign team had earlier demanded the postponement, stating that an extensive review of the voters’ register for 220 constituencies had identified several discrepancies that render the register incomplete or inaccurate. However, Dr. Duffuor withdrew the application on May 12, and the NDC expressed gratitude to the party’s Council of Elders, National Chairman, General Secretary, and Dr. Duffuor for their efforts in resolving the matter and ensuring party unity.

All in all, the NDC is poised to proceed with the elections as scheduled, and the decision to transport materials by air reflects the party’s commitment to a fair and transparent electoral process. The NDC has emphasized the importance of credible and transparent elections, and the move to airlift materials is a significant step towards achieving that goal. The NDC remains committed to upholding democratic values and principles and ensuring that the party’s internal elections are conducted in a transparent and fair manner.
